Solar Area Lights, Clondalkin Carpark
2023: Clondalkin Carpark is a small carpark with approx 100 carpark spaces and is illuminated by 2 of VeeLite’s Solar Area Light. These 5.5m high Lights provide symmetric light output (ie. in all directions – 360 degrees) and are spaced approx 30m apart. With internal Motion sensors, they switch to full Light output when a Car or Person passes nearby.
When the Motion Sensor does not detect any local traffic, the Light output reduces to 25%, providing a low level of security lighting. The system is designed to operate from Sunset to midnight during the Winter months and all night during the Summer.
Usually, Solar Lighting would cost 2-3 times the cost of ordinary (Mains powered) Lighting. However, in this case, it only costed approx 25% of the cost of suppling conventional Lighting. This was mainly because the cost of Electrical supply to this site was high (despite being in a built-up urban area) as well as the usual costs of Lighting, underground ducting, etc.
