Plan the Lighting Scheme
1. Advise VeeLite of the dimensions of the Car Park (Length x Width) and what light level you require (or describe activity).
2. VeeLite will advise and cost for Equipment needed (Poles, Lighting and cost of this equipment). No charge for this service.
Plan the Installation
Using the Lighting Scheme, ask a Local Contractor to price for installation (Poles, electric cables, Lights, etc).
Visit the Local Planning office
Having received costs for the Lighting and the Installation and if the Project is likely to proceed, visit your Local Council – Planning Dept. Ring in advance and make an Appointment. At this meeting, they will give you feedback, tell you how to proceed and how long the formal Planning process will take.
The main problems that may prevent planning permission relate to nearby Roads or Buildings that the Lighting may impact.
Costing the Project
The cost of the Lighting Equipment and Installation, together with any other costs that may have arisen (eg. From feedback with the Planning Office). Possibly a Planning Consultant or Architect may have been recommended.
Use all the costs or estimates above as a Budget for Fund raising, Grant applications, etc. Allow 10% extra for Contingencies etc.
Formal Planning Permission
When you formally apply in writing, the Council may ask for a specific Lighting layout superimposed on a Map of your local neighbourhood, so they can see light spill, glare, etc. We can do this but may charge for it, depending on time and circumstances. Each Council can ask for different information so its hard to be precise.
Maps of your Pitch and/or Local Area may be needed.
When planning permission has been received, the Project can commence.
