26/09/2024: Tolka Estuary (Dublin Port) Greenway was opened to the Public. The VeeLite LED Bollards are designed for Greenway Lighting and very similar to the VeeLite Bollards supplied a few years ago to the Portmarnock – Baldoyle Greenway.

Greenway Lighting or walkways, Tracks, cycleways, etc require specialised lighting. There may be requirements for a low profile solution. For example, Streetlights on 6M or 8M Poles may be prohibited because they are obtrusive and may add ‘column clutter’ to the appearance. A lower height solution is usually required. For this reason, Vandalism is a consideration and Luminaires with high robustness must be considered.
Portmarnock – Baldoyle Greenway – LED Bollards
The Photos show parts of the 2 km long Portmarnock-Baldoyle Greenway, which opened in 2020. The lighting was achieved using low height Bollard type Luminaires with optics to provide lighting on both the 3M wide Cycleway and the 2M wide Pedestrian pathway. Between these Paths, there is a 2.4M wide grass verge for safety to keep Cyclists and Pedestrians apart. On each Pathway, there is traffic control in the form of direction. The Lights are robust and the low height maintains attractive views without obstructions. The Spacing between LED Bollards is maximised to reduce cost and clutter.
These Bollards are designed for this pupose and are significantly different from standard Bollards. Construction of the shaft is from Galvanised Steel to provide maximum strength. The height of the Bollard can be varied to suit the Project. The Tilt on the LED optics can be changed and several high performance LED optical systems are offered. Access for wiring or Fuses is offered via an optional door in the Shaft. As with most of VeeLite’s Products, LED lifetime is 100,000 hours+ so maintenance is minimal.
