Recent Sports Pitch Lighting:
Dun Laoghaire – Rathdown Council (DLR) has recently upgraded 3 of its Sports Campuses with VeeLite’s Sports Floodlights. These are at:
- Samuel Beckett Civic Campus on Ballyogan Road
- DLR Sports Campus at Loughlinstown
- DLR Sports Campus at Meadowbrook
The new LED lighting was installed in 2022. Light levels typically in excess of 250 Lux. Twelve LED Floodlights were installed on each Pitch to replace the older Floodlights.
The older lighting is typically Metal Halide (white light) or HPS (Yellow light) and when replaced by LED, there is typically a 50% Energy saving. In addition, LED Lighting can be switched on instantly, so there is no need to leave lighting switched on in advance. The older lighting needed a few minutes to come on properly and up to 20 minutes to come on if it was switched off by accident, as it had to cool down first.
As well as Energy saving, the ‘maximum demand charge’ is reduced. This reduces the monthly standing charge on Electricity. In most cases, the older Lighting can be replaced on a 1 for 1 basis, thereby minimising the installation costs and no new wiring on lighting Poles are needed.
